- Description
- A photo featuring a view of St. Marys' Town Hall in the year 1900. Milton Reesor, a local amateur photographer, took this photo at the age of nineteen. He often scratched numbers into the emulsion on his photo plate in order to mark the year the photo was taken; "00" can be seen scratched onto this image on the bottom right corner.
Reesor took several photos of Town Hall. It became a local attraction after it was built in 1891. The exterior remains largely unmodified to this day. Reesor was standing across the street from Town Hall behind a construction fence protecting a commercial block that was being built. The wooden fence is visible at the bottom edge of the photo. Crude wooden electric poles stand in front of Town Hall; steam-generated electricity had just recently been brought to St. Marys. - Notes
- Condition: Fair - Image is clear. Discolouration of photograph, particularly at top half. Wear on photo edges at top corners. Album matte is moderately worn, staining around edges and material loss at top right corner.
