Description
This photo shows two men working with a drill rig at the power house located at the end of St. George Street. After the waterworks was installed at the location, it was necessary to drill the original artesian well to a deeper water table and install a pump. This drill was steam powered but well drilling today has similar components: a wellhead, a derrick and a power source.

This photo was taken by local amateur photographer Milton Reesor in 1903.
Notes
