- Description
- The house in this photo has been demolished. It was an example of the white two-storey houses commonly seen throughout rural Ontario. The horizontal siding is particularly common in St. Marys. Houses such as these were rarely built without a means to light the dark stairs hallway. German and Scottish builders often preferred to build a gable window at the end of the hallway, such as the gable seen on this house. Note the veranda at the back of the building, visible on the left side of the photo.
