This 1902 photo of Prunty's Queens Hotel was taken from Ottawa Ave facing South. When compared to a 1897 photo of the same building, it is now sporting a new addition of three full floors, plus a sloped ceiling forth floor. The new addition with its new paint makes the original building look a little shabby. No doubt this is due to the smoke, soot & steam drifting from the Grand Truck Railway tracks, sidings, yard and station just out of view on the left. The R.R. Station was still located on the opposite side the tracks at this time. The darker portion or original section of the building is comprised of two full floors plus a sloped ceiling third floor. Later photos show the Ottawa Ave. street side veranda was extended the full length of the old and new potions of the hotel.
The small buildings behind and just visible on the left side of the building may be part of the gas works for the hotel....
The brick construction debris from the construction of the King Edward Hotel can be seen laying on Ottawa Ave..
