The South River Mercantile was originally owned along with the South River Lumber Co. by a group of partners Ard being one of the partners. After the South River Lumber Co. Saw Mill was destroyed by fire in 1909 the company seemed to dissolve and Ard became the principal owner of the former Mercantile Store. By 1917 it had became Ard's and this change is reflected on numerous items of stationary invoices statements etc.with Ards letter head ....
