Garden Competition: Garden to measure approximately 9' to 12' and to contain 1 row consisting of 2 green pepper and 2 tomato plants, 1 row of yellow wax beans, 1 row of Dutch onion sets, 1 row of purple or white alyssum, 1 row of non-climbing sweet peas. First Prize, $4.00, 2nd $3.00, 3rd $2.00, 4th $1.00. 2. Vegetable Display: From child's garden to be shown at flower show on the 20th of August 1977, 6 yellow wax beans; 2 tomatoes; peppers; 2 onions (cleaned). 3. Flower Display: 6 Sweet pea stems. 4. Flower Display: 4 inch miniature arrangement of Alys- sum. 5. A Fall Arrangement: Using grass, weeds & wild flowers. 6. Bedside Hospital Arrange- ment of a child. A special prize of $5.00 will be given in this section to the contestant with the most points. Teenage Competition (14 and over) 1. A Potted Plant: Foliage (any kind). 2. Flower Arrangement: Illust- rating the Queen's Jubilee. 3. Arrangement of Wild Flowers and Weeds in a coke bottle. 4. Arrangement Demonstrating any Sport. 5. Dining Room Center Piece: Using garden flowers. First prize $3.00 donated by Yolande Baillon. Flowers and vegables used in this section need not be grown by the exhibitors but arrange- ments must be made by exhibitors. SPECIAL: Donated by Simpsons Sears, $10.00 value to contest- ant with the most entries and with the most points in either Junior or Teenage Competition. The Horticultural Queen will be chosen based on the highest points in the garden and arrangement competition. The Queen will be crowned on August 20th, 1977 at the Horticultural Tea. The occasion was marked by a dinner at son Maynard's, March 27. Thirty members of the family attended. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kinkaid Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kinkaid celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary, May 1. The oc- casion was marked by a reception for friends and a family dinner on that date. Mr. Honey is practicing with the law firm on Rice and Rice in Ottawa. Mr. Charles H. Kenny Mr. Charles H. Kenney of Windsor, passed away suddenly at the age of 66 years on February 5. Funeral Service was held February 8th at 11 a.m. in the George Curtis Funeral Home, Stevensville, Ontario. Interment at Brethern of Christ Cemetery, Stevensville. He was born in Russell, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kenney. He received his educat- ion in Russell Public and High School. He moved to St. Catherines then to Windsor where he worked for Ford Motor Co. Retired a year ago. He leaves to mourn his wife, two sons, One daughter and one brother Edd.
