Special to the Journal PEMBROKE, Ont., June 12 – After an illness of about three weeks, during which she was a sufferer from heart trouble, Mrs. Charles Gutzmann, of Petawawa township, died at her home yesterday evening.
Born in Germany, June 3, 1854, Mrs. Gutzmann was 77 years of age, and was a daughter of the late Mr. And Mrs. Lindemann. Her maiden name was Amelia Lindemann. Fifty-five years ago she was married in Canada to Charles Gutzmann, and they had spent nearly all their married life in Petawawa township.
Besides her husband, she is survived by five sons and two daughters; they are: William F., of Petawawa; Reynold of Chalk River; August, Albert and Charles of California; Mrs. C. Heinz, of California, and Ada, at home. Ferdinand Lindemann, of Pembroke is a brother, and Miss Bertha Lindemann, of Wylie township is a sister.
Mrs. Gutzmann was very well known in the district in which she spent most of her life and in Pembroke, and her sudden passing has caused sincere regret to her host of friends. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon from her later residence to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and cemetery, Petawawa.
