- This photograph depicts a group of men and women laying on a blanket in a forested area. Bicycles are in the background, either laying on the ground or leaning against the trees. There are four women and two men.

- Canadan Soldiers with their Scottish girlfriends are depicted here. From the left, Oliver Clouthier, Ken Henderson (of Maniwaki, PQ), Chris Henderson (nee Mann, wife of Ken), Jean Armstrong (to marry Oliver Clouthier), two other girls from the Milk Marketing Board, Inverness, Scotland. Jean was head accountant for the Milk Marketing Board, which was a job in the reserved category. (This meant that she could not volunteer). This picnic was one of the early dates of Jean and Oliver Clouthier, they went on bicycle to Loch Ness. Apparently, picnics with Canadian (soldiers) were special since they had much more food compared to the rationing available to civilians in Scotland. Oliver and Jean's daughter recalls that "[s]he [Jean] could describe the deliciousness of the sandwiches to the day she died. My Dad also used his good Canadian hunting skills and would arrive at her parent's house with game for dinner!"
The men were members of the No. 1 Canadian Forestry Corps (CFC) during World War II. Men from the same area were generally stationed together in the same company and lumbermen were often put in the Forestry Corps. This group was stationed in Croy, Scotland. - Date of Original
