- Notes
- This portrait is of Albertina and Johann Gutzmann (d. 1860) and was taken in Pommerania, a province of what was then Prussia. Albertina came to Canada in 1867. On May 2, 1867, Paul and Caroline Dannhauer (nee Gutzmann) and Albertina (mother) and son Carl Gutzmann (the second 'n' in Gutzmann was later dropped) set sail from Hamburg, Germany in the ship the "Lord Brougham". They arrived safely in Quebec City on June 19, 1867, just thirteen days before Confederation. They were met by Caroline's brothers, August and William Gutzmann.
