New Contest

"Do you know these folk and fairy

tales?"

This is the name of a challenging

contest going on at the Petawawa Public

Library as part of the Ontario Public

Library week celebrations this week. Why

challenging? Well, because it causes one

to delve back into the recesses of one's

memory, to the "good olde" days when we

read fairy tales - and of course, in our

hunt to get clues matched to stories, we

once again pick up a copy of Grimm's or

Anderson's fairy tales and begin reading.

Lots of interest in the old favorites is

being revitalized, the pleasure of pure

fantasy is being tasted again by many

parents and children who feel they just

have to "have a go." The contest consists

of a series of clues each suggesting one of

the well-known folk or fairy tales. Entry

forms are available at the library and may

be filled and left in the deposit box in the

Children's Library area. The contest is

open to children aged from 8-12 years old.

The winner will be announced on

Saturday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. And don't

forget you and your children can borrow

any of those folk stories, legends or fairy

tales which are on display with the clues

for the contest, if you sign up as a member

of the Petawawa Library.
