    A major construction project was made out of removing the streetcar tracks from downtown Oshawa in 1942.

    The streetcar tracks were removed in a major construction project undertaken by the city around the "Four Corners" (Simcoe and King Sts.) in 1942.

    The Carnegie Library was constructed in 1909 through a grant, and was replaced by the McLaughlin Library in 1954. Carnegie Library was sold and torn down in 1956.
