- Ernie Marks was born 15 March 1915 in Perth, Ontario and was part of a traveling family theatre troupe. In 1931, he acquired the Martin's Theatre and became mayor of Oshawa the same year. The Marks, as it was later known, presented musical revues, stage plays, and amateur talent nights. Ernie was married to Katherine (Kitty) Reynolds. He died on 21 June 1952.
