- Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he came to Canada about 1910. He was employed by the Pedlar People Limited from 1910 to 1930. In 1932 he was elected mayor, but resigned in April to take a position at the Oshawa Public Utilities Commission (PUC). He was employed in the parts and service department of General Motors for 21 years before his retirement in 1958. He died on 17 November 1965.
