- Notes
- King Street Public School was built in 1913 on property that was originally purchased by the McLaughlin Carriage Co., and given to the School Board. Some students came from as far away as Bloor Street to attend the school, which was initially an eight-room building, with open plans for expansion to sixteen rooms.
It closed in the Spring of 1981.
It was K-8 through 1979/1980, but in the last year the top floor was closed down due to disrepair, and it became grades 1-6 only. Kindergarten and grades 7 and 8 students were moved to E. A. Lovell School. In that last year, there were only 75 students.
After it was torn down, it became the site of a courthouse and a credit union. The courthouse building became office space for private tenants about a decade later, the credit union is still there. - Inscriptions
