- Description
- Black and white photo of the exterior of Oshawa High School (now O'Neill C.V.I.) on Simcoe St. N.
- Notes
- Due to the fact that Oshawa residents were so displeased with the lack of Secondary school in the town prior to 1900, a group was established in 1905 to find a suitable spot to build. The Sam Trewin lot, on Simcoe St. N. was chosen, despite its distance from the densly populated south-end. Oshawa High School was built in 1909, and has been renovated several times to serve the growing population. Now O'Neill Collegiate and Vocational Institute (named after Principal A.E. O'Neill in 1960), it is one of many high schools in the Oshawa area.
