- Oshawa Central Public School was usually referred to as Centre Street School, especially after the High School was erected in 1910 and the school was devoted exclusively to elementary students. It was torn down in 1920 and a new Centre Street School was built in its place in 1923. The new building was re-named E.A. Lovell School in 1955, and is now used as a Continuing Education facility after the merging of E.A. Lovell and South Simcoe Schools to create Village Union on the corner of Simcoe and Gibb Streets in 1999.
