- Description
- Ukrainian Catholic church of St. George the Great Martyr located on the corner of Albert St. & Jackson Avenue (now Lviv Boulevard).
- Notes
- The parish itself was established circa 1912 shortly after immigrants from Galicia and Bukovinia first settled in the area. For the next 40 years, the first church, known as the Church of the Epiphany and built on Albert Street in 1916/17, was a religious and social center for Ukrainians.
Following World War II, Oshawa received great numbers of Ukrainian immigrants who had chosen to make Canada their new home. As the church became too small for the growing community, land was purchased on the other side of the street, and construction of this new church was begun in 1955 by Richard P Winter, Master Mason of Winter Brothers Construction, Pickering - Date of Original
