- John Aubrey Morphy was born on 24 Jan 1891 to Henry Edmund and Miriam Maria Morphy (nee Pellatt). He attended the University of Toronto where he gained both a degree in Mining Engineering (1911) and a Bachelor of Applied Science (1912). Morphy enlisted in June 1915, and was a member of the 37th Battalion.
Upon returning from the war, he worked at the Pedlar People Ltd. until his retirement in 1961. After marrying Vera Nicholson, they had a son named John Denys (1923) and a daughter named Anne (1925), who died the same year. - Inscriptions
