- Notes
- "Algoma Customs and Smelting company - 1908, It was situated near the lakeshore in a small bay where Smelter Bay Aggregate's were located in 1991.
A test run of ore was brought in for processing but the smelter was poorly designed and it did not produce the required product and the project failed.
In 1919 negotiations with Firstbrook Brothers and the Town were undertaken to open a box factory using the smelter buildings. The box factory closed in the early 1930's.
In 1934 some of the buildings were sold to the town and one building was sold at low cost to the Thesalon Curling club to build a rink."
