- Bill Lewochko, an award-winning artist from Brighton, has proven his mastery of several mediums. His work in pen and ink, watercolour and scraperboard concentrates on the effects of light and shadow, with special attention to detail.
Bill's interest over the years in all aspects of art has led to his involvement in the development of the visual arts throughout the region in which he resided. He was one of the founders of the Society of York Region Artists (SOYRA) and was President and on the Board of Directors for several years.
Bill's award-winning works are displayed in galleries, and in juried art exhibits, as well as in corporate and private collections in Canada, the U.S.A. and the U.K. He believes that in order to create exciting and original work, an artist must continually challenge him or herself. "To grow as an artist, my works have to reflect change. When I create a new piece of work I am giving a personal expression of myself and I hope this feeling will evoke an emotional response in others." - Date of Original

- In 1987 the Newmarket Public Library (NPL) was very fortunate to be the beneficiary of a donation intended for works of art and books relating to art by Dorothy and Jim Bowman and their daughter Carol Bowman. The funds were invested in trust for this purpose until 1998 when a collection of works of art was selected and purchased to form a permanent gallery in the Library.
