- Heather Kertzer, of Newmarket, has been working full-time as an artist since 1992. She portrays her love of the land and nature, through her works. Although she has worked with a variety of media, she now primarily works with watercolours.

- In 1987 the Newmarket Public Library (NPL) was very fortunate to be the beneficiary of a donation intended for works of art and books relating to art by Dorothy and Jim Bowman and their daughter Carol Bowman. The funds were invested in trust for this purpose until 1998 when a collection of works of art was selected and purchased to form a permanent gallery in the Library.
