- With love for nature and passionate about the Canadian landscape, Johanna creates works of great strength in watercolour, oil and acrylic, with the aspiration to evoke in the viewer a feeling of joy and gratitude for what man has been given to cherish and protect.

- Note on reverse side: Born in Germany, Johanna came to Canada in 1971, where she presently resides with her family. While her interest in fine arts has been life-long, she has only been painting seriously since the early 80s. In her studio in Richmond Hill she works mainly in watercolours and oils, and although she prefers to portray the many beauties of nature in particular the northern part of this country, there is no limit to subject matter. Her inspiration to paint comes from an open heart and mind she possesses and her keen eyes with which she perceives the colour or shape or the play of light and shadows on a given object, and her great love for the Creator and His wonderful creations is reflected in much of her work. In a short time Johanna's award winning paintings have found appreciation nationwide by private and corporate collectors.

- In 1987 the Newmarket Public Library (NPL) was very fortunate to be the beneficiary of a donation intended for works of art and books relating to art by Dorothy and Jim Bowman and their daughter Carol Bowman. The funds were invested in trust for this purpose until 1998 when a collection of works of art was selected and purchased to form a permanent gallery in the Library.
