- Dr. Elam Stimson was born at Tolland, Connecticut on October 4, 1792. He practiced in Tolland for a short time before coming to Canada and settling in St. Catharines in 1823. In 1828 he moved to London where he lived briefly before moving to St. George in 1833. He died in St. George on January 1, 1869. (Sources: "The Medical Profession in Upper Canada, 1783-1850" by Wm. Judging from his age in the photograph, this portrait may have been taken ca. 1850-1860.
