- Description
- A glossy black and white portrait of two elegantly dressed women, one standing and one sitting. The lady who is standing is outfitted in what appears to be a fur hat and perhaps a double breasted fur jacket. She has large intriguing drop earrings and her dark coloured dress is full length. The style of her clothing appears more subdued than the seated lady who is wearing a light coloured hat decorated with plaid accents and has a fancy lace collar on her jacket. She appears to be holding dark coloured gloves and her dress has a full long skirt.
- Notes
- This undated photograph is mounted inside a rectangular card which frames it with a raised border with embossed stars. It appears to be a tintype carte de visite. The surface of the image is bubbled up and disturbed in places. A trimmed section of a page, taken from an almanac or directory and slightly larger than the photograph has been glued to the back of it and the card frame, holding it in place. The reference on this page to Beltz's is an advertisement for Beltz's Hatters & Furriers which was located at various addresses on Dundas Street from 1859 on into the 1900's.
There is no photographer's imprint or any other information to suggest where or when this photograph was taken.
The geographic location given circa 1860's, is for Beltz's Hatter & Furrier located at 85 Dundas Street according to the 1868-9 London and Middlesex County Directory.
