- Description
- A black and white photograph of a delivery truck of Edward Adams & Co. Wholesale Grocers. Their sign is on the side of the truck.
- Notes
- Edward Adams, who served as mayor of London in 1852 and 1853, established the first wholesale grocery store in London. Beginning as a retail business, Edward Adams & Co. became exclusively wholesale sometime in the 1840s. The business was located at 95-97 Dundas Street. The name changed to National Grocers Co. ca. 1926. This delivery truck was probably made in London by Barton and Rumble and photographed by the Hines Studio in the early 1920s.
There is a handwritten inscription on the back of the photograph.
