Description

A somewhat damaged, glossy black and white mounted photograph showing the smartly turned out and decorated two horse team and wagon of H.T. Reason and Company, whose sign appears on the right front of this covered wagon. A single driver framed by the floral garland on the roofline above his head, proudly shows off his rig. Small flags fixed into the harness and more flowers adorn the horses. In the right background a couple holding an umbrella look on with other spectators in front of the grandstand at the Queen's Park Exhibition Grounds.

Notes

The handwritten inscription in pencil appears on the back of the original mounted photograph. In the book: "Souvenir and Official Program for London Old Boys Reunion and Summer Carvival, August 3 to 8, 1908," the program for Monday, August 3rd listed among other events, "Judging of fancy tandem, single and double turnouts, Floats, Wagons, and Decorated Rigs, Business Floats." The 1908/09 London City Directory listed the business of H.T. Reason & Co. as paper box manufacturers, wholesale dealers in paper, twine and stationery located at 180-2 York Street.
