- Description
- A compromised black and white photograph featuring the Methodist church at the southwest corner of what was then North Street at Park Avenue, now Clarence Street. On the left side, the strip of photograph appears to belong at the right side of this image or is perhaps from another negative taken of a view just to the west of this one. Scaffolding is evident on the building behind the church as well as on other buildings in the right background. In the right foreground a substantial brick building with dormers and shuttered windows stands beside three more modest wooden residential(?) buildings.
- Notes
- The inscription is handwritten and printed on the back of the photograph...the first suggestion was later corrected. Note: compare this photograph with "North Street looking east from Richmond Street". This image may be an earlier view as there are three small buildings between the church and the taller brick building in this photograph (with much construction happening) and only two in that photograph. The building under construction behind the church may have been Wesley Hall, built ca. 1873. The church, also known as "the Wesleyan Methodist Church on North Street" burned down in 1895. PG B24
