- Description
- A glossy black and white print of Blackfriars Bridge with Carling's Brewery in the background.
- Notes
- Blackfriars Bridge, a reinforced wrought-iron bowstring bridge, was constructed in 1875. It spans the north branch of the Thames River, now connecting the north end of Ridout Street with Blackfriars Street. Blackfriars Bridge is believed to be the oldest surviving wrought-iron bridge in North America still used for vehicular traffic.
The inscription at the bottom of the photograph was added in 1939. The date that the bridge was erected is incomplete in the inscription. It should read 1875.
