- Description
- A glossy black and white print of the Masonic Temple. Several people are gathered on the corner and a horse and wagon is parked on King Street. Buildings can be seen to the north of the Masonic Temple along Richmond Street.
- Notes
- The inscription at the bottom of the photograph was added in 1939. The image is erroneously inscribed as being the corner of King St. and Dundas St. The correct location is the north-west corner of King and Richmond Streets.
This building was opened in September 1881 (London Free Press, September 3rd, 1881, p. 1) and its interior was gutted by fire on February 23rd, 1900. It was rebuilt with an extra storey as the Richmond Building and demolished in 1968 (Victorian Architecture in London and Southwestern Ontario by Nancy Tausky, p. 267).
The address for this building was 371-381 Richmond Street.
