Before police arrived on the scene of an open grave at the Oakland Cemetery, off Oxford Street West, London Free Press reporter Gordon Sanderson (Sound Off column) conducted his own probe as to why it was open. It was likely vandalism or grave-robbing. Sanderson lobbied the community to repair the neglected memorial ground, which contained the graves of prominent local pioneers like Rev. William Proudfoot.
