Dearness, Dr. John (1852 — 1954)
In 1875 became inspector of East Middlesex public
schools and resided in London. Later he became vice—
principal of London Normal School and in 1918 its
principal. Is a noted mycologist and was given the
King's jubilee medal for his research in this field
in 1935. Author of books on nature study, authority
on mushrooms.
