Archie Cunningham and the Royal Marines

Starting his career at the top, Archie Cunningham

began playing music professionally with Guy Lombardo

and the Royal Canadians. As an original member,

Archie stayed with the band until their first big

move to Cleveland, when he was forced to return

home to London due to illness. Shortly after,

Cunningham formed his own band called the Royal

Marines imitating the Lombardo sound but adding a

jazzier touch with Archie's lead on the saxophone.

Billed as the best band in Canada by the Port

Stanley Casino, the Royal Marines were popular
