E.& J. Lauder Photography Studio of Dublin, Ireland started with the father, Edmund Stanley Lauder who opened a daguerrotype studio in 1853, the year his son, James Stack Lauder was born. James would apprentice with his father in the 1860's and after studying painting in Paris and photography in Berlin would open the prestigious Lafayette Studio in 1880 which eventually catered to royalty and the elite.
