Description

A black and white print taken from an original card mounted photograph showing a group portrait of the London Bicycle Club outside their headquarters at 326 Dundas Street. It appears to be an all male group posed at street level behind their propped bicycles with a few seated in open upstairs windows. Although their clothing varies, most seem to be wearing suit jackets with knickers and knee high stockings, typical cycling wear of the 1890's.
The "London Bicycle Club" sign can be seen between the two upper windows and the street number 326 in the transom above the doorway at the left. The lettering for "Dr. F. Butler, V.S." can be seen in the transom above the number 328 in the right hand doorway.

Notes

The 1895 London City Directory lists the London Bicycle Club at 326 Dundas Street and its secretary as a B. Glover. The map shows the approximate location as the building has long since been demolished.
The photographer, John Nicholson is listed in the same directory with a business address at 521 Richmond Street.
