Could this be an early portrait of James Shotwell who was president Wilson's aide during WW1? He was a contemporary of Arthur Currie and both attended Strathroy Collegiate at the same time. Nose shape, chin and etc seem very similar. I do have a picture of Shotwell I can send to you.
Shotwell was born in 1874. If this is his portrait and the photo was taken in 1905, the last year photographer Samuel H. Ray was in Strathroy, Shotwell would have been about 30 years old. The likeness to the images of Shotwell available on Google Images is fairly strong, in our view. The dates seem to fit, too.
No need to send us a photo, thanks, but the Strathroy Museum might appreciate one: see www.strathroymuseum.ca for contact information.
