Notes
This white brick, two-storey building opened on August 17, 1876, with Mr. M.J. Glass as the first principal. Within two years this new Petersville School was re-christened Empress School. This building was used until the end of 1924, by which time a new Empress Public School had been built. The new school, completed in December 1924, opened in January 1925. (Source: "Empress Public School 75 Years" by John McFerran.)
The map shows the location of the first Empress Public School which was located on the southeast corner of the present school playground, at the northwest corner of Empress and St. Andrew Streets.
The school is now Jeanne-Sauve Public School.
