If this is the Simcoe Street School, take a look at page 80 "Illustrated London Ontario, Canada", the photo there of R.M. Graham,Principal Model School(Simcoe Street).

This image bears a likeness to the man in the foreground who is holding the child.

Yes, it does. Well spotted.

Confirming this is Simcoe St. school. My family attended this school approx. from 1891 to 1914. I have a class picture taken in front of this same building. Picture would have been taken circa 1874 - 1878, and shows Jessie Winslade as the 5th child, front row, from the right. The family was living at 224 Waterloo St., (1891-3), and 338 Simcoe St. (to 1899).

May I ask how one knows the child is Jessie Winslade? Is this an ancestral family member of yours? I just started research into a Wallace E Winslade and see the Jessie Winslade, alongside Wallace and the immediate family, on a 1901 census of London, Ontario. I believe Wallace had built the house I am currently living in and would like to confirm some details if possible. thank you! Jessica
