- A black and white photograph showing the Glencoe, Ontario arrival of the royal train pulled by Canadian National Railway's Engine 6400. Crowds wait on either side of the train to greet King George VI and his wife, Queen Elizabeth. The view is similar to another photograph in the London Public Library Image Gallery but shows a slightly wider view which encompasses more of the crowd to the right of the train.
- Notes
- According to CN Lines Magazine Volume 12, Number 3(www.cnlines.com), the 12 car Royal Train which carried the royal couple on their 30 day tour was put together by the CNR, the CPR and the Canadian government. The cars were painted royal blue with gold outlined window bands of aluminum leaf and gun metal roofs. The engines used to pull the train on various legs of the journey were adorned with the royal crest. The engine in this picture, No. 6400 is preserved at the Canada Science & Technology Museum in Ottawa.
