Royal Air Corps - Beamsville - 1918

    These were the Headquarters buildings of the Royal Air Corp. They were located on the Beamsville bench, south of the Regional Rd. 81 (old Highway 8) and west of Quarry Rd.

    There appears to be a truck driving away on the left center of the photo. Some of the men appear to be sitting on 'picnic' tables beside the machine guns. These are probably 'Vickers' guns, as that i

    There were 9 hangars in 3 groups of 3. As of 2008, one hangar still remained and was being used as a commercial warehouse.

    A building with a verandah around at least 2 sides. Two military officers are stand on the verandah looking at the camera. Based on how flat the land is, this building is probably near the hangars.

    A biplane comes in for a landing. Hangars and other buildings can be seend in the right in the background.

    The machine gun ranges were in ravines on either side of the main camp.

    Captain Earl godfrey, centre with can, was commanding Officer until closing of war.
