MI. Henry spoke of the challenge facing those accepting the respon- ‘sibility of leadership and challenged each member to do their best.He urged ‘the group to put Christ first in all their endeavours and do things to His glory,and they cannot fail to have a worthwhile and meaningful year. The new slate of officers are: President-Mrs. Bill Clark,Vice- President-Mrs. Lorraine Colford, Secretary-Mrs.Mike Richardson. Treasurer-Mrs. Dick Merrick. Several members handed in cushions to be kept for the next bazaar.The members drew names for the 'Secret Pal' club.Their identities are to be kept secret until next Christmas.Plans were made for the pot-luck supper to be held in conjunction with the annual congregational meeting in the even- ing of Sat.,Jan. 21. The program contest,A Sermon in Soap,was conducted by Mrs.Dick Merrick,and was won by Mrs. Doug Henry with Mrs. Clark winning the booby prize. An inspirational devotional time was conducted by Mrs. Byron Gordon who gave everyone uplifting and challenging ideas for beginning this new year.She used the 9lst psalm for her scriptural theme and each mem- ber answered the roll call with her favourite verse from that psalm. Mrs. McCullough served a delicious lunch and everyone enjoyed an inâ€" formal chat.Mrs. Henry expressed the appreciation of all present to everyone who had contributed to the success of the meeting. Ski Club for Westport The popular sport of crossâ€"country skiing is gaining many enthusiasts in the Westport area.A club is being organized for all those interested in the sport.The newly organized Norht Crosby Recreation Committee has held two meetings concerning this, with guest speakers and films about cross-country skiing.John Baldwin and Derek Ball are acting as a steering committee for the formation of the club.People of all ages are welcome to become involved in this new venture . SKI CLUB continued This is the first time that the Township of North Crosby has had a group to work on behalf of all res- idents to insure a worthwhile program of recreation and the full benefit of all gov't grantsin this area.It is made up of interested citizens of the Township,including the following:Chairman-Dr. Mendell McEwen,Vice Chairmanâ€"Jim Mulville, Secretary-Jim McGlade,Directors- Osmond Palmer,Hal Lynn,Terry and Joan Wright,Council Representativesâ€" Ed Norwood and Ben Brus. cfif: THEATRE NOTES * The Lakeland Players Be sure to reserve an evening to see "Mornings at Seven“,a delightful comedy by Paul Osborn to be presented by the newly formed Lakeland Players.
