PHILIPSVILLE V1.1. The group met Nov. 13/84 with prs. Theresa George opening the meeting with the Ode 8: Collect. Roll call was answered by 11 members on "A new Approach toward Farm Management." Mary Sutcliffe presented an excellent paper on the motto "The changing image of women in rural areas", after which she introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Nancy Sheffield. Nancy gave an excellent report on how she & her husband work together on their produce farm. She explained the work entailed in growing different crops and the nights when frost threatens 8: they have to stay up all night using the irrigation system to prevent crop loss or damage. After explaining some of the care pointers for the various fruit crops, Nancy closed by saying that they enjoy their work and because they work together they have lots of time to spend as a family with their son Mathew. After a short question period, Mary presented Nancy with a small gift for her participation in the evening. A two minute silence was observed for Remembrance Day. Minutes were read 8: approved. New business dealt with the Dec. 11 Christmas Party for the Senior Citizens. The Institute Christmas Party will be held in the Hall Dec. 13 at 1:30 p.m. Reports were given re: Workshop & Summary day, to be held again at Spring Valley in Jan. N ew Horizons programsâ€"interested people should attend the meeting with Mr. Kenny on Nov 22. District report was given and it was announced that 1985 will be Year of the Youth. More details will be forth- coming re the three items for hospital use. The executive meeting will be held in March. Reports are very positive on the Monday "Fun-Nites". It was originally composed for Leorene's grandmother. The singing of the Royal Anthem closed this portion of the meeting. Theresa George won the brand name slogan contest prepared by Leorene. EveryOne enjoyed a delicious lunch and extended warm welcomes to new member Mrs. LeBlanc. LADIES AUX. OF D.F.D. HALLOWE'EN DANCE Delta Lions Club Hall had a meeting of an unusual nature on Oct. 27. The Patrons came as ghosts, witches and goblins to help celebrate Hallowe'en at the Ladies Aux. of Delta Fire Dept. Annual Costume Dance. The entertain- ment was provided by Touch of Country. Prizes were donated by Victor Raison, Dennis Halladay, William Morris, Wendall Gardiner, Paul Ostrum and Mark Astbury all officers of Delta Fire Dept. Donations from Stuart Wright of Delta and J &G Safety Brockville were greatly appreciated. Prizes were awarded to Pat Carbino, Ann & Allan Crisp opted to runners up Paul and Gloria Thompkins, Gerald and Sharon Moore, Linda Rene and Willie Stevens. Proceeds from this dance are for im- provements to the Fire Hall. Hot Buffet Concluded the evenings enjoyment. oME‘eéVIntoeeSEVIE V.H.3. Nov.6 at lp.m. Mrs. Sheffield, president for the month, welcomed the members and opened the meeting by reading the hymn "Almighty Father, Who Dost Give" in unison. Mrs. Clara Townsend conducted the Worship service on the theme "Prayer" assisted by Mrs. Edna Gile with scripture readings. Offering was received and dedicated 8: Roll call was answered by 16 members with a verse on prayer. Minutes were read and approved. 18 home and 17 hospital calls had been made to the sick and shutâ€"in. 20 books had been read. Mrs. Marion Hutchings read a very interesting paper on prayer and peace. Donations were made to several worthy projects. Reports were given by the secretary 8: others. Cards were signed for 2 members hospitalized. Instead of the annual pot luck dinner, Mrs. Pat Cassidy invited the members to her home, Tues. Dec. 4/84 at lp.m. for dessert followed by the Christmas meeting. Meeting closed with prayer followed by refreshments and a social hour. Donations were made to: Red Cross, Bursary Fund, Alcohol 8: Drugs, ChantryHarlem Hall, OxFam, Canada. A. & J.
