TIEIR WEI“ IEEDS RDHS SPORTS Girls Soccer News Our super soccer players travelled to Almonte on Oct. 11 fro an exhibition game. We won by amargin of4â€"0. On Oct. 18, we played Tagainst TISS in Brockville. Our senior team tied 1â€"1 and our junior team lost 2-0. The girls were very tired at the end of this meet as many had had to play two games as we are a bit short of players. This Year's Record 1 win 1 tie 1 loss Considering that the other teams in the league have played more than our team, this is a very commendable record and our girls deserve our appreciation for their hard work. We hope to get the Girl's Soccer league going again in the Spring of 1984. Team members were as follows: SENIORS ' Evelyn Scheitrowsky, Cindy McCullough, Renee Veley, Lynn Laming, Holly Gray, Leasa Burns, Martha Kenney, Laurel Takerer. JUNIORS Shelley Mallen, Christine Merinod, Julie Moulton, Vicky Tinkess, Tanya Hawkins, Patti Sly, Susan Carroll, Leslie Ashton. Rideau's Senior Boys Volleyball Team had what could be described as a "rol- ler coaster" season. In regular tourâ€" nament play, their record of wins/losâ€" ses changed drastically from week to week, (S-l,2â€"4,l-5,3â€"3,5â€"l). This inconsistency in play may lead the reader to believe that Rideau had an unsuccessful season. However, to the contrary, it was a successful and re- warding season for players and coach. The highlight of the year came at the L.G.S.S.A. final in North Grenville. The tournament format had the first place finisher play fourth in the first match, the second place play third in the second match and winners meet in the final. Rideau defeated Athens in the second match to qualify for the final against the home team, North Grenville. North Grenville was eventually victorious but the tenacious Rideau Volleyballers forced the finals to the fifth game in the best of five set. Members of this year's Volleyball team are: Kevin Smith, Paul McCreary, Mark Little, Paul Neary, Brett Crisp, Peter Carbine, Rob Sawyer, Derek Vanâ€" derschuit, William Marquis, Mark Sni- der, Steve Snider, Dave Hudson and managers, Ann Bennett and Abi Connell. Congratulations on a successful year.
