She also had pictures which showed the location, building, rooms, and all facilities that are available to interested people. She was accompanied by Mr. Walker, the owner. Mr. Gerald Johnston, Mr. Reg Moore, Lyndhurst and Mrs. Vivian Purcell, Athens entertained with their orchestra. Lorna Pearson gave a recitation. A social hour was spent and all enjoyed a well prepared lunch. The hall was prettily decorated with Autumn leaves and flowers. DELTA W.I. A novel idea by our President, Audrey Talbot, aided by the skilled hands of Eva Dougall provided each member with a "thankful bag" in which we were invited to place five cents for each sunny day and also for each time we are thankful for something. This should aid our funds. Our Pres. owes the bag five cents for she must be thankful for the enthusiastic response to her idea. Our hostess and program convenor, Pat LeBlanc, presented a very interesting talk and exhibition of pamphlets on Environment, concentrating on Land Conservation. Among some of the startling facts were the following: Saskatchewan could be a desert in 50 years if erosion is not corrected; The Sahara Disert was once an arm of the sea, then a lake and later a good living area still, but natural causes, uncorrected, saw this area become a desert. Wind and rain are great erosion factors 'as well as lack of conservation practices. A book exhibited and well recommended by Pat is Will the Bounty End by Gary Fairbairn. Leora Raison will be representing our W.I. by laying a wreath in remembrance of the fallen in previous wars, on Nov. 11th. We extend a hearty welcome to all young and old ladies, and those in between, to join us at our next meeting on Nov. 19th at 1:30 p.m. For information phone Florence Molony, 928â€"2801. :2; Shaun [flunUlHC FIRE PREVENTION PARADE On Saturday, Oct. 5th, rain didn't dampen the spirits of 20 departments who attended the 15th Annual Fire Prevention Parade, which opened the Fire Prevention Week for the Leeds and Grenville Mutual Aid Association.
