DEALING WITH A NATURAL PROBLEM
Old Mackeys Beach will be getting a facelift next year as part of efforts to deal with problems caused by erosion and rocks in the water. A cove will be made in the centre of the beach, and rocks will be removed. The beach is part of Old Mackeys Park, a recreation facility purchased by the Townships of Head, Clara and Maria in the late 1980s. Reeve Lita Therrien referred to it as "a beautiful little spot" used a lot by the locals. The park has several picnic tables and washroom facilities, but is not open for overnight camping. The park is located at the end of Jennings Road, about 4.5 kilometres from Highway 17.
