Council Boosts Trailer Fees

MACKEY (special) — Trailers parked in the Townships of Head, Clara and Maria will now pay a fee of $5 per month for residential use and $10 per month for commercial use, it was decided at regular meeting of council. The previous fee was $2 per month.

The Department of Lands and Forests will be asked to look after the maintenance of the Stonecliffe dump, since council considers it the prime user of the dump.

The Protestant Cemetery at Deux Rivieres, which is seldom used and is now in a semi-abandoned state, provided much discussion by councillors. Reverend Brown and Reverend Ross of Mattawa will be invited to the next council meeting to discuss the matter.

Welfare for the month of May amounted to $168.06.

Mr. R. B. Walker, Youth and Recreation Consultant of the Department of Education will be present at council's next meeting, Wednesday, July 2nd, to advise on Community Centre matters. The Community Centre Board will also be in attendance.

Ernie Boudreau was appointed a member of the Community Centre Board to replace Councillor Ken Wilson who has resigned.

The Township Clerk pointed out that the Ontario Tax Reduction Grant may cover only one half a taxpayer's taxes if his taxes are less than the grant. Public school supporters will receive a grant of $55.34 and Separate School supporters $56.06.
