Dump Burning Is Allowed in Township

MACKEY STATION (Special) —Council of the township of Head, Clara and Maria learned from Department of Energy and Resources at the regular monthly meeting that permission had been granted the townships for open dump burning until Dec. 31, 1970, using usual precautions.

It was noted that no night burning was allowed and no burning of autos or tires. Information was also requested by the department on the exact location and size of the township dumps. At present there are three dumps in the townships, located at Stonecliffe, Bissett's and Deux Rivieres.

No word has been received as to who received the contract for the new boat launching ramp to be built at Mackey this year.

The County rate for the townships for 1970 is $3,062.98, as compared with $3,134.68 in 1969 —a minor decrease.

A request for a trophy for the Deep River Jubilee celebrations was tabled until further information can be obtained from the Jubilee Committee on what is required and for what it would be presented.

Mr. C. A. Merridew, township solicitor, will be asked to check over the township building bylaw to see if it meets with standard sanitation, pollution and other requirements.
