MACKEY (Special) — Council of the Townships of Head, Clara and Maria this week voted to pay $7,000 to the Renfrew County School Board. The sum represents 50 per cent of the public and secondary school levies for 1969.
Mr. G. E. French, district engineer, department of high¬ways, strongly recommended the purchase of a new township truck, following an inspection of the present vehicle. Council had not budgeted for such an expenditure in 1969, but will seek a supplementary grant of $12,000 to help cover the pur¬chase. It may be necessary to put extensive repairs on the presently owned vehicle, it was noted.
Canadian Pacific Railways advised of its intention to estab¬lish a customer service centre at Sudbury. This would eliminate the agent at Moore Lake station, which is located about five miles from the township of Head.
Protests are still being re¬ceived by the township clerk over the trailer fee. Council recently increased rates on trailers from $2 to $5 per month. No further action in the matter will be taken by council at this time, it was decided.
Road Superintendent Charles Delahunt reported that roads at Deux Rivieres and Mackev had been graded, the road to the Deux Rivieres cemetery fixed up, the road to the boat launching ramp at Stonecliffe repaired and the municipal dumps at Deux Rivieres and Stonecliffe cleaned and burned.
