- On Aug. 31, 1986 at the annual Memorial Service at Evergreen Cemetery, a Plaque was dedicated honoring the McDougall family and all those from our community who so carefully tended the cemetery and chose it for their final rest.
Jean Hutchinson, great-great granddaughter of Flora MacDougall is on the far left holding Ian Hutchinson. Beside her, from left to right, is June MacLaughlin, David Whyte, Rev. Grant Muir, Lorne McCannell, great-great grandson of Flora MacDougall, Sue McKinnon, Mary Fowler, and Nancy Guldner, daughter of Jean Hutchinson. - Notes

- The Plaque reads:
This Cemetery began Oct. 1861 when Mary McDougall’s Scottish pioneer family, fulfilled her wishes to be laid to rest beneath her favorite cherry tree, later when husband, family and friends joined her, it became McDougall Cemetery . In 1875 her son Sandy registered 1.4 acre for a Community Cemetery which became Evergreen. In 1926 a nephew Ronald purchased an addition ½ acre from the MacKinnon family and 1966, 20 additional feet were also obtained for expansion. - Date of Original
