- Agnes Macphail as part of the group who flew on the first Transcanada Airlines cross-country flight from Ottawa to Vancouver in 1939. Some of her travelling companions on the flight were Commander Edwards and Hon. John Bracken, premier of Manitoba, as well as fellow M.P.s Gerry McGeer (former mayor of Vancouver) and Leslie Alexander(Les) Mutch. Tommy Wayling and Evelyn Tufts represented the press gallery. Agnes Macphail was prevented from making the return flight because of an ear infection. [See close up of Agnes Macphail].
