Hence I see a unity of aim between the ;ur- pote and aehievetnents of the now popular Farmers' Institutes in their work of inform- ing, instructing and educating those engaged in agricultural pursuits and the plans and extion of agricultural societies in providing expositions for comparing attainments through open competition. .The dairy industry is now recognized as the most important of all branches of Can- adian agriculture and unquestionably pro- fitable agriculture lies at the foundation of the economic prosperity of the Dominion. Whatever jast means may be used to aid the fanners in increasing the market^h: quantity of dairy products per acre, and in improving their quality and consequent value, cannot be considered a.« of only local, rural or class interest. Every inhabitant has personally, to a greater or less degree, some financial stake in the business of the farms. The marvellously rapid growth of the dairy business in Ontario brought it into promin- ence after the fairs and exhibitions of the province had become respectably stereotyped in their management.
